From a young age, Robert was passionate about helping others — even considering a life of missionary work. But a high school stock market simulation class unexpectedly sparked a deep interest in investing.

Robert began to view every dollar as an employee: “I wanted to make sure each dollar had a job and was working as hard for me as I was working for it.” This mindset helped him realize he could pair his love for finance with his calling to serve — and become a financial advisor who makes a real difference in people’s lives.

He’s particularly passionate about the technical nuances of financial planning and behavioral finance. “I love the details most people skip over — those rules and exceptions that can really benefit our clients,” Robert explains. “And I love being a calm voice when clients are anxious. Knowing they feel better after we talk is one of the most fulfilling parts of my job.”

We’re thrilled to share that after 15 months of preparation, Robert has officially earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation, a highly respected benchmark in the financial planning industry.

His journey to this milestone is not only a testament to his hard work and dedication but also a reflection of his deep commitment to serving others with excellence, integrity, and heart. To stay motivated through the study process, Robert shared a prayer he used to keep his focus rooted in purpose: “Lord, help me to retain this information so that I can build your Kingdom and not my own.”

When he’s not meeting with clients or pursuing his next designation (he has three more in mind already), you’ll find him spending time with his wife, Kathryn. They met through a college ministry called Fuse, and in their first conversation, she mentioned a mutual fund. Robert jokes that it was the exact moment he knew he would marry her! Kathryn likes to rub it in that she started investing at age 12 and has more experience than him.

Robert and Kathryn are actively involved with their church, especially in small groups. Robert also loves sports of all kinds, including bowling, cornhole, disc golf, golf, and pickleball. He is particularly proud of a hole-in-one he got when playing disc golf! The Hough’s hope to make a Christmas trip to New York City to see the Rockettes someday, one of his wife’s bucket-list items and a nod to her lifelong love of dance. Meanwhile, they are planning a family in the coming years and look forward to that adventure.

As for his professional future? His goal is simple but powerful: “I want people to know I care deeply about them — not just their finances. My hope is to help clients live more abundant lives: spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and financially.”

At Milestone Wealth, he’s found a firm that shares his values. “We view this business as God’s business,” Robert says. “Everything else — the service, the planning, the care — stems from that foundation.”
