Milestone Wealth clients Jack & Teri Bray have been working with Dave for over 20 years. A work relocation brought them to Greenville in 2001, and they wanted a personal touch from an advisor. They connected with Dave, who they described as a “true gentleman” who welcomed them to the area.
Jack and Teri grew up 8 miles from each other in small-town Michigan, but didn’t meet until middle school. They became high school sweethearts and married 43 years ago.
Teri grew up in the countryside of Dewitt, Michigan, where her dad was in the building business. They also raised cattle and horses on their 10-acre farm. Jack grew up in Bath, Michigan, amidst the dairy and cattle farms where his dad was a construction superintendent.
Jack attended Western Michigan University, earning his degree in engineering. One evening he met some guys in his dorm. While listening to Led Zeppelin, they mentioned they were studying Paper Science & Engineering. Jack found this very interesting, and that week he toured the department, its lab facility, and met the faculty. He went all-in and has loved paper and pulp ever since. After 40+ years of full-time work, he still does some consulting. His first job brought them to the Allegheny Mountains of Virginia, where they fell in love with the climate and culture of the South.
Teri had a busy administrative career working for the state of Michigan, a CPA, and several school systems. Once they had three boys, she stayed home to focus on raising their family.
The Brays now call Rock Hill, SC home. This small college town has a fun vibe, several microbreweries, many restored buildings, and a great pace of life. Despite no longer living in Greenville, they easily stay connected with Milestone Wealth through Zoom meetings and calls.
They also have a condo and boat at Smith Mountain Lake in Roanoke, VA. In addition to spending time with good friends up there, they also love gathering with their sons, daughters-in-law, and three grandsons.
Jack & Teri are heavily involved in volunteering opportunities, including the Ronald McDonald House and church organizations like St. Vincent DePaul and the Knights of Columbus.
Teri loves math/logic games such as Kakuro and always has a jigsaw puzzle going (at least 1000+ pieces). Jack is a long-suffering Detroit sports fan, although his beloved Detroit Lions finally seem to be turning it around. They have a prolific vegetable garden and enjoy trying new recipes, especially on Jack’s Big Green Egg.
The Brays have enjoyed exploring Europe, including Italy, Germany, Austria, and an upcoming trip to Ireland. They also love hiking the National Parks and waterfalls out west, such as Zion, Bryce, and Moab.
