Greg and Laura Sweet family have been clients of Milestone Wealth for almost 8 years. They met many years ago during a prayer meeting at St Peter’s Church in Greenville, affectionately describing their relationship as “ordained to be.”
Background & Careers
Greg grew up in Connecticut where his parents owned a grocery store. After earning his Ph.D. in Polymer Science from the University of Connecticut, he worked with Dupont for 32 years. His area of expertise was polyester fibers used primarily for clothing, home furnishings and carpet.
During his time at Dupont he traveled to India, China, Turkey and throughout Europe. He was granted several US Patents for improvement of product quality and increases in production capacity.
After leaving Dupont, he worked 8 years locally with DSM Dyneema, developer of the strongest fibers in the world. This fabric is used in life protection, such as bullet proof vests or wrapping military vehicles to make them blast- resistant.
Laura comes from a big family of eight siblings, spending most of her youth in Panama City Beach where her father worked for International Paper. She was a Community Counseling Major at Eastern Carolina University and then pursued her Master’s in Counseling.
She spent 43 years working in the university system, 30 years of which were spent in crisis management on behalf of students and their families. She served as National President for her sorority, Tri Sigma, and is now on the Board of Directors.
Hobbies & Travel
The Sweets enjoy spending time at their two homes, one in Greenville and another in Emerald Isle. Greg loves gardening and maintaining both yards.
In their retirement, they each have hobbies they love to pursue.
Greg has always had an affinity for trains, including having a model train around the base of their Christmas tree. His passion for model trains really took off about five years ago when he joined the East Carolina Railroaders club.
Laura plays tennis five days a week and sometimes twice per day.
The Sweets also have a passion for travel, especially throughout the US and Canada.
Highlights include visiting Hawaii, Alaska, Banff and Niagara Falls. They have a time share in Park City, Utah, a central location for exploring many nearby National Parks.
Greg and Laura have called Greenville home for 50 years, and we’re proud to call them clients of Milestone Wealth.
